Cervical Screening Update 2024

  • For NZ registered nurses, nurse practitioners, midwives and doctors.  Regular updates are recommended by the NZ National Cervical Screening Programme. This is a two-hour self-directed course for New Zealand registered sample takers.

      NOTE: You need to have already completed NZQA Unit Standard 29556 Cervical Screening course in order to take this course.  Please note that we may request proof of your NCSP certification in order for you to pass the update.

      This update course will refresh your knowledge of cervical screening in New Zealand and key concepts. The course covers:

      • A review of cervical cancer
      • HPV primary screening
      • Cultural safety and supportive delivery
      • Barriers to screening
      • Health literacy
      • Recall and referral
      • Who and when to screen
      • Future direction for screening in New Zealand

      This two-hour course is wholly self-directed and must be completed online within 30 days from date of enrolment.

      NOTE: Sexual Wellbeing Aotearoa training courses are delivered from our Learning Management System which is accessed via the Sexual Wellbeing Aotearoa website. This online training is browser based and will work on most standard browsers:  Chrome, Edge, Firefox (Internet Explorer is no longer supported).
