A urinary tract infection (UTI) is a bacterial infection of the urinary tract.
It’s easy to get a UTI — they are super common. Most UTIs are caused by bacteria from the anus getting into your urethra, then your bladder, and causing infection. This can happen when you are cleaning up after using the toilet, or even during sex.
Anyone can get a UTI — although, if you have a vulva, you’re more likely to get a UTI. Pregnant people are also more likely to get UTIs. -
