Resources for Youth Relationships and Sexuality Education Survey 2024

  • We know that quality relationships and sexuality education equips rangatahi with knowledge and skills that empower them to develop healthy relationships, make informed choices, and improve their mental and physical wellbeing. We want to find out about their perspectives and experiences of sex education.

    We've created a number of resources to promote the survey — help us get as many responses as we can!

    Here is the link to the survey. 

    Below are some questions that may come up when distributing the survey. Any questions that are not covered please direct to our Senior Policy and Research Advisor at [email protected].

  • Questions you may get asked about the survey

    • What is the purpose of the survey?

      • It is expected that the Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) in New Zealand will soon be under review by the government. We want to hear from those who receive the information as we feel their voice is often excluded from the conversation around this topic. We want to understand:

        • what are they are learning
        • how they are learning it in school
        • other sources of information
        • their thoughts on what is most relevant and useful for them.
    • Will others know I took the survey?

      • No, the survey is totally confidential and anonymous. All answers will be reported collectively. No one will know you took the survey unless you tell them. None of the answers will be able to be traced back to you.

    • Will I be paid to take the survey?

      • No, you will not receive any payment for taking the survey. If you provide your email address at the end of the survey, however, you will be put in a draw for $50 Prezzy gift card. This is optional. 

    • How will information from the survey be used?

      • The survey will go in a report which will be disseminated to advocates, researchers, policymakers, and available to the general public. The data from the survey will be used in our media and communications, and may also be used in other academic publications or at conferences.
