International Nurses Day 2025

12 May is International Nurses Day. Held on the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth, it’s a day to celebrate nurses around the world and the care they provide. This year’s theme is the health and wellbeing of nurses themselves.

Nēhi (nurses) are a vital part of Sexual Wellbeing Aotearoa. Our 65 nurses and nurse practitioners work with our doctors and medical receptionists to provide sexual and reproductive health and wellbeing services online and in 23 clinics across the motu. We value and appreciate this important mahi, which includes helping our clients by:

Talking about:

• contraception options
• period problems
• gynaecological problems
• pregnancy options 

Providing: 

• contraception, including fitting and removing implants and IUDs 
  STI testing and treatment
• (in some clinics) abortion services
• HPV vaccination
• cervical screening and HPV testing
