- Sexual Wellbeing chief executive Jackie Edmond departing after over 25 years
-
Sexual Wellbeing Aotearoa chief executive Jackie Edmond is departing in late January 2027 – after 20 years in the role and more than 25 years with the organisation.
One of the longest-serving primary care chief executives, Ms Edmond says the time is right for her to step away from the organisation and to think about her own career next steps.
-
The time is right for a change in leadership, however. We’ve a new strategic framework in place, a telehealth service that is growing every day, a digital strategy developed and ready to be implemented – to me, these are all signs that Sexual Wellbeing is ready for someone new to lead the delivery of these projects.”

Ms Edmond says that when she became chief executive in 2006, she had no real intention to spend the next 20 years in the role.
-
It’s the kind of organisation, dealing with the kind of issues, that really get under your skin and make you want to stay. I look back with pride at so much of what has been achieved – abortion law reform, subsidised contraception, our new brand, the recognition of sexual and reproductive health as a specialist area of healthcare. Working in primary care you see every day the way services like ours deliver for people – we’re specialists in sexual and reproductive health, we’re efficient, we’re cost-effective, and we’re focussed on fundamental issues that make a difference every single day.”

Ms Edmond will leave her role on Friday 29 January 2027.
Board of Trustees chair Dr Jacky Percy says the Board acknowledges Jackie’s service to the organisation. The Board of Trustees is initiating the recruitment process for a new chief executive.
-
I can’t think of another leader across primary care with such knowledge of the sexual and reproductive health sector or who has committed more of their career to a role than Jackie has – we have been very fortunate over those two decades to have her as our chief executive."
